How to Navigate the Meal Customization Feature

How do I pick my meals?

We think all of our food is pretty darn tasty, but we understand everyone has their favorites, which is why we let you choose what you want!

Note: You’ll need to be logged into your account to choose your meals. (To do this, go to the little person icon in the top right corner of the site, enter your email and password, and click the LOGIN button.)



Next, click on the word “CUSTOMIZATION” in the gray bar at the top of the page.



You’ll see your subscription at the top (e.g. “Butcher’s Box - 4 Days of Lunch and Dinner”; if you have multiple subscriptions, you’ll see all of them in the dropdown), and your default delivery days. At this time, customization is only available for meals, not add-ons. 


Here’s how delivery works:

  • Customers with a subscription of 2 days per week must choose 1 delivery (Monday, Wednesday, or Friday)
  • Customers with a subscription of 4 days per week must choose 2 deliveries (Monday + Wednesday, Monday + Friday, Wednesday + Friday)
  • Customers with a subscription of 6 days per week must choose 3 deliveries (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday)
  • Customers may only choose meals from the delivery day they select. For example, if you’d like a Monday delivery, the meals have to come from the meals in the “MONDAY DELIVERY” category.


Once you’ve chosen your meals, hit the black “SUBMIT REQUEST” button on the right side of the screen. You’ll be asked to review and confirm your selections, then you’re all set!




What’s the deadline for picking my meals?

Thursday at midnight for the following week. 


How many meals do I get?

The little white box on the right of the customizations tab will show you how many meals are included in your subscription, and as you add and subtract meals to your delivery, you’ll see the count go up and down. 


The website is showing only vegan meals!

If you have a Butcher’s Box subscription, rest assured that the meals will come with animal protein. 


I want a particular meal, but it has an ingredient that I’m allergic to. Help!

No worries at all! We can accommodate your allergy the way we always have: with ingredient omissions or protein substitutions. 


I’ve chosen my meals, but when I go back into my account, it’s showing something different.

The best way to know what you’ve chosen is to take a look at your email: after every customization update, we send you a list of what to get excited about in your upcoming deliveries!


What if I have multiple subscriptions?

You’ll see them at the top of the page listed in a dropdown menu next to the words “Your meal program”. 


I want to choose my tonic flavors, but I don’t see them here.

At this time, we are only accepting customizations for meals, but hopefully soon you’ll be able to choose your favorite add-on flavors as well!


My subscription is for 4 or 6 days, so I have to get multiple delivery days, but I don’t want any of the dishes on another day.

Can I add a breakfast as one of my lunch/dinner options? 

Lunch and dinner are interchangeable, but you can only add breakfast if you have a subscription that includes breakfast. 


Can I add additional meals as a surcharge?

This is not currently an option, but you can add a second subscription and then adjust the second subscription accordingly.


Why can’t I view the customization tab on Saturdays or Sundays? 

Over the weekend, we plan out our menu for the following week. Customizations can be placed anytime between Monday-Thursday for the following week.  


Can I mix and match Butcher Box and Vegetable Basket Meals? 

This can be done, however you must have multiple subscriptions set in place.

For example, if you were interested in ordering 10 meals total and you wanted 6 Vegetables Basket and 4 Butcher Box. This is how your subscription(s) should be configured to accommodate this.  

  1. Butcher's Box /4 Days/Week/ Lunch = 4 meals 
  2. Vegetables Basket/ 6 Days/ week/ Dinner = 6 meals 

Example of customization request that matches above subscription(s): 

Mon — 1 vegetable lunch, 2 butcher lunches

Tues — 1 vegan lunch, 2 butcher dinners 

Weds — 1 vegan lunch, 1 vegan dinner 

Thur — no meals  

Fri — 1 vegan lunch, 

Sat — 1 vegan dinner
